Eliodoro Camacho
(Inquisivi, 1831-La Paz, 1899) Bolivian military and politician.Installed in Cochabamba since his youth, politics was the great passion of his life, and he dedicated himself fully to it.He began by supporting the uprising of José María Linares, who appointed him captain and encouraged him to pursue the arms race.
Eliodoro Camacho
Opposition of Mariano Melgarejo and later of Hilarión Daza, was one of the support points of the constitutional government of President Tomás Frías.When the War of the Pacific broke out (1879-1883), which pitted Bolivia and Peru against Chile, he joined the General Staff as chief, and after the defeat of Camarones he was one of the soldiers who caused the fall of Daza.
Eliodoro Camacho was the intellectual leader who made possible the birth of the party system in Bolivia, and his reflections on liberalism constitute the first serious attempt at party organization in the country's history.In 1883 he founded the Liberal Party, wrote his program and ran for president three times, but in all his attempts he was defeated by the conservatives.
