Ildefonso Díez de Rivera

(Ildefonso Díez de Rivera, count of Almodóvar; Granada, 1777-Madrid, 1846) Spanish military and politician.Imprisoned by the Inquisition of Valencia for his liberal tendencies, he was released by the constitutionalists (1820) and proclaimed captain general of Valencia by popular vote.In 1822-1823 he held the same position in Mallorca.Later, he was forced into exile in France (1823-1832).He was again Captain General of Valencia (1835), Minister of War (1835-1836 and 1836-1837) and Minister of State (1842-1843).
