Christian René de Duve
(Thames Ditton, 1917-Grez-Doiceau, Belgium, 2013) British physician and biologist.He was a professor at the University of Leuven and subsequently worked as a researcher at the Rockefeller Institute in Stockholm and at the University of Saint Louis.

Christian de Duve studied the chemical fractionation of cellular components and, together with Albert Claude, intervened in the morphological identification of isolated components of lysosomes , cellular particles related to the digestion of substances incorporated into the cell.He was awarded the 1974 Nobel Prize in Medicine, jointly with Albert Claude and George Palade, for his studies on the structural and functional organization of the cell.
