González Velázquez

Family of Spanish artists. Pablo (Andújar, 1664-Madrid, 1727) worked as a sculptor in Madrid. Luis (Madrid, 1715- id ., 1764), son of the previous one, was director of the San Fernando Academy and made numerous tempera and fresco paintings in churches of Madrid (San Marcos, Salesas Reales, etc.). Alejandro (Madrid , 1719- id ., 1772), brother of the previous one, cultivated mural painting, scenography and architecture. Antonio (Madrid, 1723- id ., 1793), brother of the previous one, was the most outstanding personality of the family.He studied painting in Rome.He decorated, based on the sketches of his Roman teacher Giaquinto, the Angélica chapel of the basilica del Pilar (Zaragoza).His stylistic renewal was projected in the formation of the Bayeu and Goya brothers. Zacarías (Madrid, 1763- id ., 1834), son of the former, cultivated portraiture, painted cartoons for tapestries and he frescoed the Labrador house (Aranjuez). Isidro (Madrid, 1765- id ., 1829), brother of the previous one, stood out as an architect.He was a disciple of Juan de Villanueva and is the author of the aforementioned little house of the Labrador (1802).
