John Bright
(Rochdale, 1811-London, 1889) British politician.He was one of the main leaders of the Liberal Party and a convinced supporter of free trade.He attacked capital punishment, opposed imperial expansion, and protested the Crimean War (1854).In 1868 he was part of Gladstone's ministry, but, contrary to the Irish political reform projects (1870), he left it.
