Franz Schreker

(Monaco, 1878-Berlin, 1934) Austrian composer.Trained in Vienna, he was a professor at the Conservatory of this city and at the Berlin School of Music.He is the author of lyrical works, for which he wrote his own librettos ( Der ferne Klang , 1912; Das Spielwerk und die Prinzessin , 1913; Die Gezeichneten , 1918; Irrelohe , 1924; Der Schmied von Gent , 1932).He is also the author of an overture for Ekkehard (1902) and a Prelude to a great opera (1933).
