George Romney
(Dalton in Furness, 1734-Kendal, 1802) British painter.In 1762 he settled in London, where he achieved great success as a portraitist, rivaling J.Reynolds and T.Gainsborough.The excellent portraits of Lady Hamilton and that of Mrs.Robinson in Perdita stand out, characterized by a rich coloring and the perfection of the drawing.
