Gottfried Benn

(Mansfeld, 1886-Berlin, 1956) German writer.He is one of the founders of literary expressionism.Son of a Protestant clergyman and doctor by profession.His poems ( Morgue , 1912; Children , 1914; Carne , 1917; Ruins , 1919) are marked by an aggressive nihilism.In The New State and the Intellectuals (1933) he expressed his enthusiasm for Nazism.In 1950 his important biography ( Double life ) appeared.
