Jean-François Lesueur
(Drucat-Plessiel, 1760-Paris, 1837) French composer.He was master of the chapel of Notre-Dame de Paris and of the Napoleonic court.He taught at the Paris Conservatoire, where, among others, he had as students H.Berlioz, A.Thomas and Ch.Gounod.His style is characterized by grandeur and the search for new sounds.He composed operas, masses, oratorios, and hymns.
