Jean Goujon
(?, c .1510-Bologna, c .1564-1569) French sculptor and architect.During his training period he was in Rome and, on his return home, he worked with Pierre Lescot (bas-relief of the Descent from the cross , 1544-1545).An admirer of antiquity, he was more interested in formal aspects than in sentiment and in accordance with this attitude he dealt with The Nymphs of the Fountain of the Innocents (1549) in Paris, a work that shows a refined sense of the rhythm. From 1548 on, he worked primarily for the Louvre.
