José Hipólito Vieytes

(San Antonio de Areco, 1762-Buenos Aires, 1815) Argentine patriot.Founder of the second newspaper published in Buenos Aires, Semanario de Agricultura, Industria y Comercio , from which he defended the freedom of trade; he fought against the British occupation (1806-1807) and in the revolution of May 1810.He replaced M.Moreno in the secretariat of the Government Junta (1810).Member of the Court of Appeals (1812) and deputy to the Constituent Assembly of the United Provinces of Río de La Plata (1813).
