Antonio Sebastián de Toledo
(Antonio Sebastián Álvarez de Toledo Molina y Salazar, second Marquis of Mancera; Seville, 1608-Madrid, 1715) Spanish administrator and politician.He was viceroy of New Spain (1664-1673) and later Councilor of State.He was a supporter at first of the candidacy of Archduke Carlos for the Spanish succession, but in 1700 he decided on Felipe de Anjou, who began his reign as Felipe V of Spain; the new monarch kept him as State Councilor (1706).
Antonio Sebastián de Toledo
Son of Pedro de Toledo and Leyva, he followed his father to America by being appointed viceroy of Peru (1639-1648).There he served as lieutenant general in sea and land of the viceroyalty, and received from his father the order to rebuild and fortify the city of Valdivia (1645), destroyed two years earlier by the Dutch.His activities in America earned him the position of the king's butler and various other jobs in royal diplomacy, until Felipe IV appointed him viceroy of New Spain (1664-1673).
