1825-1828- Brazilian War .The Prov.Unidas del Rio de la Plata (now Argentina ) and the Empire of Brazil face each other While the victory was won by the Prov.Unidas , by a treaty the independence of the disputed lands is decided, forming a new state, Uruguay .

1838-1851- Guerra Grande .Civil war in Uruguay to which they join the Confederacion Argentina , the Empire of Brazil and several European powers.It ends with a treaty between the Uruguayan contestants that declares that there were "neither victors nor defeated".
