Charvaka or Carvaka

(7th century BC) Indian philosopher.Having lost his great work, the Brihaspati sutra , his doctrine has come down to us through Jain, Buddhist and Hindu texts.Skeptic about the Vedic dogma, he sees the changing and fortuitous world and establishes the search for happiness and the pragmatic suppression of suffering as the end of man.
