Edward Schillebeeckx
Consultant to the Dutch episcopate and co-founder with Hans Küng, Yves Congar, Karl Rahner, Johann Baptist Metz and others from the magazine Concilium , was one of the main inspirers of the Dutch Catechism (1966).For his thesis he was called to testify in 1968 before the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; This was not the only occasion in which some aspects of his ideas were seen as heretical by the Catholic Church, particularly because of his approach to Jesus Christ as a human figure in the field of Christology, from which he extracted a hopeful message, as well as in matters relating to the immaculate conception and the infallibility of the pontiffs, which bothered both Paul VI and John Paul II.
Among the numerous works by Edward Schillebeeckx we can mention Christ, sacrament of the encounter with God (1958), God future of man (1965) and Jesus, an attempt at Christology (1974).In 1979 and 1984 he suffered new processes, which did not interrupt his theological dedication; Of his latest books, we must highlight I am a happy theologian (1994) and Men, God's story (1995).
