Georges Rodenbach
(Tournai, 1855-Paris, 1898) Belgian writer in the French language.He was a classmate of E.Verhaeren and collaborated in La Jeune Belgique .His literary beginnings were marked by the influence of F.Coppée, evident in his first books of poetry ( Home and Field , 1877; Las tristezas , 1879).Installed in Paris, he frequented V.de l'Isle Adam, S.Mallarmé, O.Mirbeau and the Goncourt brothers.He is the author of an extensive poetic work ( The elegant sea , 1881; The mundane winter , 1884; The white youth , 1886; The reign of silence , 1891; The mirror of the natal sky , 1898); However, it owes its celebrity to the novels Witches the Dead (1892) and The Bell Ringer (1897).
