José Serrato

(Montevideo, 1868- id ., 1960) Uruguayan politician.Professor at the University of Montevideo and deputy for the Colorado Party since 1897, he held various ministerial portfolios (1903-1913) with Batlle.Later he was President of the country (1923-1927) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1934-1935 and 1943-1945).He is the author of Economic Problems (1902).
