Ibn Sabin [Abensabín]
(Known as Abensabín; Murcia, 1217 or 1218-Mecca, 1270) Hispano-Muslim mystic.Endowed with considerable religious training and possessed of knowledge of medicine and alchemy, his Sufi mysticism showed him as suspected of professing the unity of existence. He traveled, fleeing from the theologians, to Ceuta, Tunis and Cairo, until he went to Mecca, where, at last, without finding the much longed-for peace, he committed suicide "out of the desire to unite with God." Its originality is found in the personal synthesis of metaphysical and mystical systems interpreted in an esoteric sense.
