José Mor de Fuentes
(Monzón, 1762- id ., 1848) Spanish writer.Engineer, teacher and ensign, he served in the navy and participated in the War of Independence, standing out at the site of Zaragoza.After being exiled in Paris, he settled in Barcelona, where he carried out editorial tasks and collaborated in El vapor .He made translations of the classics, Rousseau ( The new Heloise ), Goethe ( Werther ) and Gibbon ( History of the decline and ruin of the Roman Empire ), and cultivated poetry ( Poesías , 1796-1800), the novel ( Serafina , 1798) and the autobiographical genre ( Sketch of the life and writings of Don José Mor de Fuentes, outlined by himself , 1836, his most outstanding work).
