José Pablo Moncayo
(Guadalajara, Mexico, 1912-Mexico City, 1958) Mexican musician.He studied music from a young age at the National Conservatory and worked in cafes as a pianist.In 1942 he obtained a scholarship to study composition at the Berkshire Institute in the United States, and upon his return to Mexico he conducted the National Orchestra and taught at the Conservatory.His most famous symphonic work is the Huapango, inspired by sounds and rhythms from Veracruz.Also noteworthy are his opera La mulata de Córdoba and the symphonic poem Tierra de Tempo, works that are part of the nationalist movement.
