Joseph Cardijn
(Schaerbeek, 1882-Louvain, 1967) Belgian prelate.He was ordained a priest in 1906.In 1912, as curate of the Laeken parish, he began his work among the young workers.Director of Social Works of Brussels and chaplain of the Christian unions (1915), he grouped the young workers of Brussels in the so-called Trade Union Youth (1919), which would become (1924) the Christian Workers' Youth (JOC).He was created a cardinal in 1965.
