André Jolivet
(Paris, 1905-1974) French composer and conductor.He was initially a school teacher, a profession he abandoned to dedicate himself to music.He worked with two teachers whose influence would mark him deeply: Paul Le Flem and Edgar Varèse.From the first he learned harmony, while Varèse knew how to transmit a certain indescribable alchemy to better appreciate the sounds.
André Jolivet
He was part of the group "Jeune France 1936", and at the end of the Second World War he was appointed musical director of the Comédie Française , a position he held from 1945 to 1959.Later (1966-1970) he was professor of composition at the Paris Conservatory.
